Question about Butterfly

Alright, I've been doing the stroke since I was ten. However, between my observation of other swimmers at the bath house (let alone, the Olympics), I'm wondering if I was taught wrong when to breath. It seems like everyone that I've observed at the bath house and Olympics came up every time their arms came out of the water. I was taught to do it once every two times that my arms came out of the water. Of course, I want to point out that I was taught this twenty-one years ago and maybe they changed the way it was taught. So, has it ALWAYS been to breath every time your arms came out of the water or had I been taught wrong by breathing once every second time I put my arms out of the water?

Summer Fun

So, what water activities or water related activities has everyone been doing this past summer? What places that are near water or water centric (like a water park) have you visited?

I've been swimming, but I swim all year round. I did swim in the ocean for the first time in over a decade in Halmstad, Sweden. I also visited an amusement park with a water park at Halmstad Adventure Land (aka Halmstad Aventyrs Landet). First time to a water and amusement park in six years.

Swimsuits through the Decades

This is a fun slide show to see how swimsuits (women particularly) have changed over the decades. Here's my favorite swim suit from the slide:

Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa

I have a new place I want to try to visit sometime in my future. I want to go to the Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa in Iceland. I came across this while watching a documentary about volcanoes and this spa came up while they were discussing how Ireland has tapped into the volcanoes to get geothermal power. I would like to visit there either for an anniversary or for a birthday.

So, has anyone ever been there before? Did you like it?

Water Aerobics

As much as I have gone swimming over the years, I have never taken a water aerobics class....until now. I'm taking a water aerobics class that's geared towards pregnant women. I enjoyed it very much.

Does anyone else like to do water aerobics? If so, how long have you been doing it?

Healthy Hair for Swimmers

I went for a haircut back in January before I returned to Sweden after being in the US for nearly two months. I had asked the hair stylist about what could make my hair feel so sticky (as if I gotten something in it when I haven't) while it dried. Other than that, she said that my hair felt odd even though it wasn't damaged. We talked a bit and there were two culprits that made my hair be that way: me dying my hair back in April (with a temp dye) or me being an active swimmer. While I do shower immediately after swimming, she said that whatever shampoo and conditioner I was using was not removing all the chlorine. So, she recommended me to use a shampoo and conditioner designed for swimmers.

What I'm using is called Ion: Purifying Solutions. It's to prevent Swimmer's Green (whatever the hell that is, need to look it up), and help repair hair from sun and chlorine damage. It is 100% vegan and sulfate free.

I got to say from using it for over a month, I can already feel a difference. It feels a lot better than it did prior to that hair cut. So, if you're an acitive swimmer (especially in the pool) and your hair has been odd lately, consider using shampoo and conditioner designed for swimmers.

Dethklok's Murmaider 2: The Water God

If you're a fan of the water, Metalocalypse's Dethklok, or metal music in general...this song is for you :) This is personally one of my favorite songs from Dethklok. Whenever they say "I am the water god", I want to add "dess" at the end of "god" since I think of myself as a water goddess sometimes :P

If you want to know the lyrics, they are on the link. To let you know, they might be morbid for some of you. I haven't seen the offical vid, but if it's anything like the other musical vids...it will be graphically violent. I also recommend listening to "Murmaider". Hopefully, you enjoy this
